Healthy toddler meals!

This week's What I Ate Wednesday post is going to be a bit different - I'm going to be sharing several healthy toddler meals, but paleo style! I'm combining my monthly Munchkin Meals post {linky party hosted by Brittany at A Healthy Slice of Life!} and my weekly What I Ate Wednesday post {linky party hosted by Jenn at Peas and Crayons!}.

It's really important to my husband and I that our son gets well balanced meals. We try to make vegetables and proteins the main focus of his meals. Especially when I am following Whole 30/paleo, Mr Toddler ends up getting a lot of paleo friendly meals. We provide loads of healthy carbs, like sweet potatoes, and squashes. We do let him snack on crackers or homemade bread if he wants to (the snack cupboard is available to him). However, he'll usually go for a banana or some nuts if given the choice. Bananas always win.

Here's a closer look at my toddler's healthy meals:

Breakfasts

Hard boiled egg with a peeled nectarine, red currants, and some grapes. I ate the grapes. He ate everything else.

Chives omelette with frozen peas. Is t mean of me not to break it to my toddler that frozen peas aren't ice cream? Probably.

This is really more of a snack for Mr Toddler since I make them in the late morning, prior to nap time. It's usually my breakfast, that I kindly share - or rather that he steals from me:

Omelette with tomatoes and spinach with a side of sliced grapes. I don't need to slice them anymore unless they have seeds.

Not so paleo noms

Even though the above meals are all part of our weekly food rotation, some non-paleo meals definitely make their way into Mr Toddler's diet. I don't worry if he's not 100% paleo, but I do make sure that the other items are still a) healthy b) high quality foods, such as brown rice, quinoa, homemade breads etc. Mr Toddler generally gets Greek yogurt twice a week or so, as well.
