So I made these:
And Mr. Toddler and I devoured them. I kind of adore apples. Like beyond adore, I eat about three a day. It's just an off day if less apples are consumed. And since everyone seems to be baking up a storm at the moment, I really wanted to get the oven going and have the house smell like deliciousness.
On the other hand, baking cookies or desserts typically involves me crying at some point because I forgot to measure the baking soda and now my cookies are ruined (I'm not terribly precise at cooking and love winging it. This makes baking difficult), or baking involves too many dishes. Plus, I find paleo cookies to be even more difficult to make than 'normal' cookies, but the latter are too unhealthy for me to share with the Toddler.
The solution to my desire for baking something sweet without messing it up or ending up with a sink full of dirty dishes because I could only get the recipe right on my fifth try naturally meant something from my childhood - baked apples.
My grandma would make these all the time for me when I was younger and they were one of my favourite desserts. I've made them a few times for Mr. Toddler and they've been hit and miss, but this time, I really wanted to go beyond the plain ole apple bit. I added some simple ingredients that really made them a fantastic dessert and Oh My Yum! I'm pretty sure these will be happening everyday for the remainder of the month!
These apples are one seriously amazing easy, healthy dessert!
