WIAW: Whole 30 style

So food. Last week, I wrote about some seriousness that we're dealing with at the moment. With all of the problems that trickle down as a ramification of it, I have to admit that my husband and I have been doing a fairly poor job of feeding ourselves enough. 

And then my grandparents came. Here's the thing with Russian grandmas: they feed you. Like a lot. And then, they feed you some more. It's all delicious, and luckily for my Whole 30 and waist line, we've been sticking to paleo noms. 

So Whole 30? I guess it's going alright. With life getting a bit out of control and so many important things to arrange, I really haven't been terribly hungry, or even focused on food (gasp, shock, Whaaaat?). 

I really credit paleo with giving me a healthy outlook on food, eating, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I really want to get back to normal meals rather than grabbing something on the go, or not eating anything until dinner time because we just aren't at home and the options available when we aren't there are not paleo. The start of this week however is definitely going much better in this regard than the end of last week, I'm very pleased to say.  

And finally, the food:

My grandma made one of my favourite Russian dishes, which contains one of my favourite vegetables ever: beets.

It's a beet salad so to say. Yep, this is a Russian style salad - loads of veg, loads of flavour, and generally loads of awesome. It's only missing greens, but I don't mind in this case although I bet it would taste nice wrapped in a leafy green. 


Borsch. Mhm. Beet soup. Why yes, thank you! Again, beet obsession over here. Another favourite Russian dish.
