I've been keeping a HUGE secret from you guys

So for the past two months, I've been keeping a pretty huge secret from you guys. It's been so hard to keep this quiet and my family is so, so, so excited to finally go ahead and share some very exciting news with you!

Guess what!!!! Guess what!!!

We're expecting baby number 2! We wanted to wait until about the end of the first trimester to announce on here, and of course to tell our friends and family in person first. Today, I am 11 weeks 4 days along.

After all of the heartache we experienced in 2015 and the difficulties we've had to overcome, I'm so glad to be able to share such positive news. Last year, two family members were diagnosed with cancer, my father in law passed away, I was injured leaving me permanently in a wheelchair, and a few other big health scares between my husband's and my family. We hoped this year would bring positive changes to our lives as we not only move on following our losses, but really, to get back to living our lives and fulfilling our goals instead of just surviving and dealing with problems. I'm so happy to say that we are finally there!

My husband and I were actually pretty surprised at how quickly this pregnancy happened and feel so blessed to be able to bring another life into this world! We've been putting off a pregnancy for quite some time, and I have to admit that even though I am actually fairly far into it now, it still feels so unreal. We are so grateful, so happy, and so relieved!

We told Y (who is now 3.5 and will be 4 when baby arrives). He's so excited, and my heart is already melting into a million pieces to imagine him as a big brother. He explains to me regularly that he will read 'his baby' books, how he will hold 'his baby' and gives my belly kisses, tickles, and hugs. I love those moments - they remind me how lucky we are. After all of the difficulties we've experienced, I know to appreciate the beautiful things we do have. And those precious moments when Y suddenly comes over and tries to interact with 'his baby' show me exactly how many wonderful things we have in our lives.

All in all, I'm really excited to be going on this journey again! We've been wanting another little one for so long, but of course had to wait for my body to be ready after my injury. I'm so happy to finally be here, finally looking forward to holding another little babe in my arms.

I do have a spinal cord injury and have to use a wheelchair, making this pregnancy a bit different than the one I had before with my son. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey, discussing how my paralysis does or does not impact the pregnancy, my parenting etc.

If you have questions, I'm usually very open, so please don't hesitate to ask! Of course, I do ask that any comments or questions are worded with consideration and kindness as some topics can be quite sensitive.

Oh and as for blogging? I'm finally starting to feel better and will be doing my best to getting back to sharing our Montessori inspired activities, tips, printables regularly from this month on. Of course, you can also expect to see baby related topics amidst activities for older toddlers and preschoolers.

Don't miss out!
