Christmas image cards for babies

Christmas is in the air! We're so excited to celebrate our first holiday season as a family of four! Baby Natasha has been such a blessing and joy since her arrival just two and a half weeks ago! We are all so in love with her, but Y seems to be most excited of all. He's constantly trying to give his baby kisses and hold her. It just melts my heart!

As the holidays approach, I have been slowly trying to get our Christmas themed shelves and activities ready. Of course, this means, I want to try to include baby girl in our activity prep. Because she's so little, we can't (and don't need to do very much).

However, when a baby is lying down and awake, they can look at black and white images. Inspired by our new baby girl, today, I am sharing a Christmas freebie with free black and white image cards for babies!

Infant Activities:

Free Christmas image cards

Age: for babies from newborn to about six months old
Why: Babies have extremely poor vision, which is why decorations or toys with high contrast colours (such as a black, white, and red) are the only colours they can see at first.

When presenting images or toys to infants, items in those colours are ideal. They will help to develop baby's vision and concrentration!

How to use
  • Print the images on durable paper (such as card stock)
  • Laminate or frame for additional durability

Option 1: Hang the 3-4 images in frames on the wall nearby a floor area for baby. You can use this area for 'tummy time' or play time. The images provide a point of interest for baby to enjoy. You can swap the images from the frames easily.

Option 2: Hang 1-2 of the images near a diaper changing area to provide a point of interest for the baby during changes.

Option 3: Print the images on a small scale and create a mobile! Hang the mobile above a play area for baby.

Option 4: Place the images in a photo album and use this as a 'book' to read to baby. Tell the baby the names of the animals as you show them to him or her. Your voice will also be familiar and soothing to baby.
