Snowman fractions printables

I'm slowly working on finishing up our winter themed activities! I'm so excited to get those up on here, too! There's a bunch of fun preschool ones that you'll be able to use to get your shelves ready for the winter season. Because we all have so much free time during the holidays, right? Kidding aside, I love creating themed works during this time of year.

Lately, I have been trying to create printables and activities for different age groups. Since starting to work at Y's school, I have really been inspired to design materials for older children. Of course, since Baby Natasha's birth (and pregnancy), I'm also so excited to make materials for babies and am anticipating the toddler years.

To combine both my love of all things holiday, winter themed, and season with my new inspiration, today I am sharing our Snowman Fraction cards! You can use these for a fun way to teach your little ones about fractions! These are absolutely perfect for hands on winter themed math activities!

Snowman craft

It has been cold here lately. As in freezing. Or rather below freezing. It's cozy inside - heat turned up, sweaters on, and tea sipping in progress. I really hate to be cold, of course, Y is sick, and naturally, with a newborn, we aren't spending much time outdoors in freezing weather. There's not even much to do other than be cold because we don't have any snow - just cold.

So that means we need to think of other ways to stay entertained! Because we can't go outside to make snowmen, we decided to make some indoors using this fun craft!

Christmas image cards for babies

Christmas is in the air! We're so excited to celebrate our first holiday season as a family of four! Baby Natasha has been such a blessing and joy since her arrival just two and a half weeks ago! We are all so in love with her, but Y seems to be most excited of all. He's constantly trying to give his baby kisses and hold her. It just melts my heart!

As the holidays approach, I have been slowly trying to get our Christmas themed shelves and activities ready. Of course, this means, I want to try to include baby girl in our activity prep. Because she's so little, we can't (and don't need to do very much).

However, when a baby is lying down and awake, they can look at black and white images. Inspired by our new baby girl, today, I am sharing a Christmas freebie with free black and white image cards for babies!

Meet baby Natasha: Our birth story

The past two weeks, I have been largely absent from here. I have a really good excuse though - our baby girl arrived! Of course, life has become far more chaotic, beautiful, and exhausting all at once as we figure out a new routine for our family.

Welcome baby Natasha!

She's only 11 days old, and is absolutely perfect! We all fell so deeply in love with her and are so thankful that she is finally here and safe and sound.

Today, I am sharing the story of our Baby Girl's birth!

What is in my hospital bag as a paraplegic

We are getting really close to baby time! Everyone is getting so excited to meet baby girl and I'm really anxious to make sure everything is done and ready for her arrival.

Because of all of the pre-term labour scares we had, I have been putting my hospital bag together from about 30 or so weeks along. Now that I am in the last few weeks of the pregnancy, I am putting in the last details and checking to make sure that we have what we will need because we don't know how long the stay will be.

Here is a look at what I have packed for myself, my husband, baby girl, and an overnight bag for Y who will be sleeping at our friends house while I am labouring.

Nature in homeschool activities

We love to frequently add bits and pieces of nature to our activities at home. I really enjoy seeing Y's connection and interest in the outdoors grow! However, here in the Netherlands fall weather equates to rain, wind and cold so we don't always get a chance to get outside. When that happens, I love to be able to use some materials that we collect to add a new twist on our works. Today, I am sharing two fun works we recently enjoyed!

Oak Tree Life Cycle Printables

We have been loving life cycle themed activities at our house lately! Y has been particularl enjoying the crafts that we inevitably end up working on as part of our explorations! I love giving him new opportunities to explore his curiousity, but I have to admit this particular set of activities that I am sharing today is a part of my secret 'post baby' stash! Shh!

You see, I've been working a lot on getting a surprise stash of printables and activities stocked up for when baby number 2 arrives (any day now!). Baby number two is still teasing us with false labour, but we're all getting really excited to meet her at any moment. That also means that I want to keep a few back up activities and printables that I can do with Y during long nursing sessions.

Today, I am sharing our Oak Tree life cycle activities! Y actually saw the printables for this and has been eager to get started on them. I'm hoping he'll be just as excited within the next week or so once baby girl is here!

DIY Sandpaper Letters Printable

One of the most popular posts on here is my tutorial for how to make your own sandpaper numbers! Since publishing that article, I have been frequently asked for a tutorial and format for sandpaper letters! I am very happy to announce that I am finally done with our tutorial and free printables for how to make your own set of sandpaper letters!

We love using materials like this to practice writing skills, letter recognition, and more! Sandpaper letters are a classic Montessori material, and making your own can of course, save some money.

You can use the instructions and printable (available below) to make both upper and lower case letters!

Wooden alternatives to plastic toys for baby

Today we are talking about ideas for wooden alternative to some fairly common toys for kids. I have to admit, I get so excited about these! There are so many beautifully crafted, wooden creations that allow for such creative, imaginative play

This year, I really am so excited to be able to shop for two kids, although our bank account perhaps a bit less so. That is why I am looking to share alternatives to plastic that vary in price point, style, and size. I'm not saying that kids need all of these toys of course, but want to share some of our favourites and to show that there really is so much out there!
